
Escondido Fire Chief Vic Reed
Chief Vic Reed is a 35 year veteran of the fire service, starting his fire career as a volunteer firefighter with the Poway Fire Department as a junior in high school. Chief Reed started his tenure with the Escondido Fire Department in 1979 as a firefighter and has served in the capacity of Firefighter Paramedic, Fire Captain and Division Chief, prior to accepting his current position as Chief in 1997.
Chief Reed has a Degree in Fire Administration from Cogswell Polytechnical College, certificates in fire suppression, fire prevention and fire protection from Miramar College and is a California State Certified Fire Officer and Chief Officer.
He is married to Jamie and they have two sons Jeffrey and Phillip. Both sons are working to follow their father into public service in the firefighting and law enforcement professions.
