Lt. Col. Raymond J. Liddy

Raymond J. Liddy

Raymond Liddy is an attorney and a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps reserves.  Prior to starting his law career, Ray served as an active duty infantry officer and attended the Army's elite Ranger School and Airborne School. In 1989, he led a 40 man infantry platoon as part of an expeditionary force in Panama for Operation Just Cause. As a reservist, Ray was activated during law school for Operation Desert Storm, and served as an analyst on the Marine’s Battle Assessment Team that produced a critique of Marine operations.  He was activated again shortly after 9/11 to lead a 300 man Ready Reaction Force in support of FEMA. In 2003, Ray participated in ground combat operations with an infantry battalion as part of the First Marine Division’s invasion of Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. More recently, Ray worked to establish the Joint IED Defeat Organization’s Marine Center of Excellence to coordinate joint counter-IED training and technology integration, and was part of an industry out-reach initiative to develop counter-IED technology.

Ray continues to serve periodically on activity duty and recently served as the Deputy Director of Operations for the Marine Corps’ premiere national training center at 29 Palms, CA, where Marines receive pre-deployment training for Iraq.

As an attorney in private practice, Ray represents emerging and private companies, principally in the defense and software gaming industries. He was a military consultant and writer for Destineer Publishing’s Close Combat: First to Fight, a “first person shooter” software game. He also donates time to represent non-profit corporations, including Starlight Theater and the San Diego Navy League. He has appeared as a military affairs commentator on national and local radio and television news programs, including multiple appearances on PBS’s The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, Fox News and, locally, KFMB News 8.

Mr. Liddy received his undergraduate and law degrees from Fordham University, and will complete his Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College this summer. Ray lives with his wife Courtney in Carmel Valley.
