MARTIN GARRICK

Martin Garrick is North San Diego County’s State Assemblyman
for the 74th District. Currently, Assemblyman Garrick is in his third and final
term in the California legislature. The communities he serves include: Vista,
Carlsbad, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, San Marcos, Escondido and parts
of Oceanside, Rancho Santa Fe, Valley Center and San Diego.
Garrick’s leadership stems from his extensive experience as a small business
owner, community advocate and work in the Reagan Administration, so he is uniquely
aware of the challenges facing businesses in California. He recently scored
100% for his voting record by the National Federation of Independent Businesses
and the California Taxpayers’ Association.
On behalf of San Diego’s North County, Garrick battled to preserve the region’s 760 area code thereby saving businesses millions of dollars. He successfully worked to keep gas stations open while state vapor recovery mandates threatened closures and heavy fines. He also fought on behalf of the health care needs of the community by working with state agencies to reclassify Tri-City Medical Center which was in danger of closing due to costly mandates.
Named by his peers, Garrick served as Assembly Republican Leader in 2010. He
is committed to focusing on the current anti-business climate of high taxes
and over-regulation and returning California to its once golden state. As Republican
Leader, Garrick was on the front line of last year’s budget negotiations
which returned a no new taxes budget that reduced spending, protected job creation
and contained budget and pension reforms.
